Depression and Mood Disorders

Most of us experience periods of feeling “blue” or “down” at some point. That’s just part of the human condition. And feeling down doesn’t always mean you’re depressed. But when these feelings linger or intensify, it’s a good idea to check it out by talking with a professional.

Symptoms of Depression

Depression manifests itself differently in different people. You may feel sad and teary and not know why. You may feel angry at everyone and everything. You may experience low energy. My job as a therapist is to help you sort through these feelings, explore changes that might improve your life and help you on the road to feeling better.

Feel Better, Become Stronger

In assessing someone for depression, I first just listen. I want to hear and understand how you’ve been feeling, when the feelings occur, and how you’ve dealt with them. I may also use one or more depression scales as part of the assessment. I also explore lifestyle issues such as diet, sleep, and exercise to see if these areas might be contributing to your depressive feelings. I may suggest a medication evaluation.

After completing a thorough assessment we will begin our work together. We will explore old patterns that may no longer serve you. We will explore various activities that might be added or those that might be removed. Together we will work to help you feel better, become stronger, and make necessary changes.

I look forward to helping you! Contact me to begin your depression treatment assessment today.
